Positioning of odour control tank covers,
GlastonburyMott MacDonald has designed, or is in the
process of designing, some 60 different wastewater projects for
Wessex Engineering and Construction Services (WECS), which is the
in-house construction and construction-management division of
Wessex Water and is charged with delivering the Wessex Water £800 m
five-year AMP4 capital investment programme.
The work is divided into four areas of:
- new facilities at wastewater treatment plant for growth or
compliance drivers
- replacement capital maintenance schemes to up-rate M&E
equipment at wastewater treatment plants
- wastewater network projects to solve sewer flooding incidents
(CSOs, storage tanks and sewer upsizing schemes)
- first-time sewerage schemes.
The design work covers outline design (appraising options and
providing recommendations), detailed design (production of
for-construction drawings and specifications) and providing inputs
during the construction-stage on technical matters.
The range of work has covered both small projects and large
projects. The average design fee per project has been £37
000.
The work has principally been executed by a team of 18 design staff
based in our regional Bristol office with technical support from
our main Water Division in Cambridge.
