Aid management
Our staff have experience in management of aid programmes as part of disaster relief.

Asset management

Mott MacDonald is a leading provider of asset and risk management advisory services in the water sector.

Audits
Mott MacDonald undertakes audits of water and wastewater treatment works as well as pumping stations to assess the condition of the infrastructure. Financial audits are also undertaken often as part of our PPP and mergers and acquisition projects.

Bankable projects preparation
Mott MacDonald has wide experience in the preparation of projects to enable clients to obtain lending agency commitment to finance.

Barrages
We undertake all aspects of weir and barrage engineering: planning, site investigations, model studies, hydrological studies, sediment studies, social and environmental assessment, economic analyses, outline and detailed design, supervision of construction, and formulation of operating procedures.

Bid and negotiation support
As part of our procurement services we provide assistance with the preparation of tender documents, tendering, tender evaluations and negotiations.

Biodiversity
Mott MacDonald has become increasingly instrumental in the design of strategies to preserve biodiversity, not least in the recommendation of global environmental programmes. In accordance with national and international conventions and legislation, Mott MacDonald ensures that all endangered and ‘at risk’ habitats and species are considered throughout a project, from its conception to its operation.

Biosolids
Mott MacDonald has extensive experience of alternative treatment processes for sludge treatment and is undertaking leading edge work on biosolids treatment.

BOT/BOOT/DBFO schemes
The Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) or Design, Build, Finance or Operate (DBFO) approach to project implementation is well known to Mott MacDonald. This approach has become increasingly popular with both wealthy and developing country governments in the relatively recent past.

Capacity building
Mott MacDonald has undertaken a wide range of tasks in the past with objectives that include the development of the ability of the client (or beneficiary) organisation to undertake similar work in the future. We recognise that this is often a particularly important part of their assignment for the beneficiary, and that a careful approach is needed in order to maximise the value of capacity-building elements of the project.

Capital maintenance
The development of successful asset and risk management solutions. Mott MacDonald has supported a number of water companies in the implementation of a Common Framework approach to capital maintenance planning. The service we offer spans from strategic advice on investment planning processes and integration of relevant systems, through to the development of asset performance models and investment plans.

Carbon footprint
Mott MacDonald is at the forefront of the understanding of the impact of carbon emissions on the environment and in taking account of the “carbon footprint” when assessing the sustainability of proposed water and wastewater assets.

Change Management
We have been assisting clients in countries in transition with development and managing the enormous changes that they have been facing.

Coastal Defences
We are able to offer a wide range of services in coastal defences. These have ranged from major flood alleviation schemes to bank protection works and studies of dredging requirements.

Collaborative working
At Mott MacDonald we believe that any partnership with a client calls for a complete culture of co-operation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, all geared towards attaining mutual objectives and best value. Whilst we have always strived to build close relationships based on trust and teamwork with all our clients, the formal or informal partnering arrangement takes this a stage further, nurturing interaction between private and public sector expertise though total openness and trust. We are successfully delivering enhanced services through partnering arrangements of a variety of types across all sectors of our core markets.

Combined sewer overflows (CSOs)
We have extensive experience in modelling CSOs and undertake studies and designs to solve the environmental, aesthetic and water quality problems caused by CSOs.

Commercial management›
Commercial management is critical to the success of capital construction projects. From the outset we work with our clients and their teams to create the right framework for their particular commercial and technical requirements.

Community participation
Mott MacDonald has researched and developed methods for improving participation in water and environmental design and management on many of our water resources projects.

Corporate development
Corporate development is often essential for the long-term success of water infrastructure. Mott MacDonald has been involved in corporate development planning, institutional and operational change management, and the development of environmental legislation.

Construction supervision and monitoring
Our extensive experience in construction supervision includes progress monitoring, quality control, testing, test checks of invoices, resolution of claims, any change required in design as per site condition, taking over and safety management.

Cost estimating
The key to effective cost management is to enable clients’ requirements to be detailed and the scope of works fully identified and costed within the project cost plan.

Cost management›
Cost management is key to the success of capital construction projects. We involve ourselves, where possible, right from the outset in working with our clients and their teams in creating the right framework for their particular requirements. Our ability to provide accurate and timely forecasts of construction costs with the briefest of information allows the decision making process to continue at this most critical time.
