Mott MacDonald has undertaken master planning assignments and strategy formulation for water supplies world-wide.

Mergers and acquisitions
We provide a specialised service to assist our clients in making a realistic appraisal of their fixed assets, and in preparing for disinvestment, mergers or de-mergers, acquisitions, take-overs, insurance or liquidation, collaborations and joint ventures.

Microfinance and rural credit
Mott MacDonald has undertaken a wide range of innovative microfinance initiatives, supported by the development of strong institutional frameworks and delivery mechanisms. We have emphasised not only sustainability of savings and credit systems, but the educational role of microfinance in assisting the poor to understand savings, credit and debt and to use the knowledge to their benefit.

Network modelling

Odour control
Mott MacDonald has a broad experience of odour related studies. For numerous clients, MM has undertaken odour assessment and abatement surveys, odour measurement surveys, odour emission and dispersion studies and provided professional contractual advice and expert witness in planning disputes with regard to odour control.

Pipelines
Mott MacDonald has undertaken numerous projects worldwide for the study, design and supervision of construction of pipelines conveying a range of liquids including potable water, seawater, sewage and irrigation water, together with pipelines for the oil and gas industry. Over the last ten years we have designed more than 10,000km of pipelines with diameters from 75mm to 4m and pressures ranging from low pressure gravity pipelines up to high pressure pipelines rated at 1,500m head.

Plant refurbishment
Mott MacDonald has considerable experience in refurbishing and upgrading M&E plant. Experience has been gained working on sewage and water treatment plants, borehole pumping installations, irrigation and drainage facilities and gated structures of all types.

Plant surveys
Mott MacDonald has undertaken a considerable number of asset and plant condition surveys and inspections, carried out by our own specialist M & E staff. Surveys are undertaken for sewage and water treatment plants, borehole pumping installations, irrigation and drainage facilities, gated structures.

Post conflict Infrastructure
Our staff have been involved in all aspects of post conflict infrastructure, whether it be assessing the condition or the physical reconstruction of infrastructure.

PPP public private partnerships
Mott MacDonald is at the forefront in the development of public-private partnerships in the water sector, and can provide one-stop infrastructure advisory services over the whole implementation cycle for government and public utilities, developers or project financiers. In the water, power and civil and transportation sectors we now have track records in over 30 countries.

Privatisation
Develop a fully justified business case supporting private investment or a combination of private, donor and government funding for public sector projects. We provide all types of services for privatisation schemes.

Our water and wastewater process specialists have considerable experience in process management for water utilities across the world.

Mott MacDonald process engineers can produce designs based on data collected in the field rather than historical records.

Procurement advice
The continuous drive towards delivering better value for clients has led to an ever-developing range of alternative procurement strategies for individual projects and for wider programmes of work. Procurement options are rarely sector-specific. Mott MacDonald’s wide-ranging experience in all major sectors of the construction industry worldwide means we are able to bring the options available and the lessons learnt to every new commission. We have experience with all standard forms of contract, including target contracts, the various approaches to partnering and, where appropriate, we can adapt and build on these to suit a particular client’s needs. With this experience, we are able to advise on all aspects of procurement strategy and their links with the business case for a project or programme as part of a complete package of procurement-related services.

Project implementation
We undertake the full range of services required for project implementation including: examination and adjudication of tenders; co-ordination of construction programme, contracts and sub-contracts; provision of supervisory staff for control and supervision of construction on site; arrangements for testing of materials, machinery, etc.; preparation of additional detailed designs if required; reports on progress of works and expenditure; certifying payments to contractors; scrutiny of contractor's claims for additional payments; supervision of performance tests and maintenance work; provision of record drawings and operation instructions; and issuing of completion and maintenance certificates.

Project management
We can manage your project from its initial concept to techno economic studies, front end and detailed design, upgrades and optimisation plans, hazard and risk analysis, programme management and site supervision.

Project preparation
Mott MacDonald has wide experience in the preparation of projects to enable clients to obtain lending agency commitment to finance. We have prepared projects for funding by all the major IFIs including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, the European Development Bank, the European Development Fund, the European Commission, Food and Agriculture Organisation, and the Department for International Development.

Our proven project management methodologies and skills along with our own integrated Quality, Environment and Safety management systems can ensure projects will run smoothly.
