In Africa, we are carrying out a project funded by the European
Investment Bank (EIB), the Multi-Country Preparation Studies for
Investments in the Water Sector. The studies are taking place
across Burundi, Ghana, Rwanda and Zambia.
The investments will contribute to the countries’ plan of
action towards achieving Millennium Development Goals. Suitable
preparation studies will be identified and conducted to develop a
series of projects that could be supported by the EIB and other
potential financiers.
Mott MacDonald’s role will take place over two phases. As part of
phase 1 Mott MacDonald’s team of experts will carry out a review of
already identified projects and identify gaps in the preparation
studies for these projects. Phase 2 will involve undertaking
detailed studies to determine the technical, financial, social and
environmental viability of the proposed projects.
Mott MacDonald’s project director Paul Turner said, “We are
delighted to be appointed on this important project. There will be
some challenges such as working to a tight timeframe across four
separate countries that we will have to overcome. However, Mott
MacDonald has a wealth of experience delivering world class water
projects in Africa and around the world and I’m sure it will be a
testament to our project management capabilities.”
