MacDonald we are able to offer an extensive range of services in
coastal and river defences.
These range from major flood alleviation schemes to bank
protection works and studies of dredging requirements.
Much of our experience has been in relation to the study, design
and implementation of flood alleviation schemes in fluvial, tidal
and coastal environments. However, our river and coastal engineers
have also worked on river diversions, river training works, scour
protection works at bridges, river amenity improvements, river flow
gauging stations, coast protection and flow control
structures.
The keys to our ongoing success have been the specialist expertise
of our staff and our ability to build successful multi-disciplinary
teams which provide comprehensive and wide ranging solutions and
deliver successful projects to our clients.
Recent schemes include:
- The River Nore where Mott MacDonald was commissioned to provide
river improvements and flood alleviation through the town of
Kilkenny, Ireland. Works included 2.5km of river bank retaining
wall, 1.5km of flood embankment and the dredging of
250,000m3 of riverbed materials
- Flood protection designs for the town of Brechin
- Studies of flood protection to Inverness from the River
Ness
- Kuala Lumpur’s Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel, Malaysia.
This 11km long 13m diameter tunnel is an ingenious dual-purpose
tunnel carrying vehicles and stormwater – the first of its kind in
the world
- Flood mitigation studies and construction projects in
Cambodia
- A comprehensive flood information management support system for
the 550,000km2 Songhua River Basin in China
