Drilling for water, OmanSince the
foundation of the firm Mott MacDonald’s engineers have recognised
the essential role played by urban and rural water supply in
alleviating poverty and hardship. Our technical know-how in this
field is now combined with the in-house expertise of our health,
education and social development professionals to provide a
comprehensive support service to water supply authorities and
donors.
Whether the responsibility for providing a safe and reliable water
supply is in the hands of the public sector, local communities or
privatised utilities the requirement for sound advisory services
remains. We are proud of our record in project preparation and
implementation at all levels within the sector; from the detailed
design of water distribution systems for rural communities to our
role as strategic technical advisor to major urban utilities.
We work in collaboration with local people, counterpart officials
and emerging firms to leave a lasting benefit in technical
capacity. Recent such projects include:
- Design and project management support for small towns water
supplies in Uganda, together with the establishment of community
based management structures
- Leakage reduction strategy – formulation, training and
implementation in Colombo, Sri Lanka
- Restoring rural water supply schemes and community management
structures in Tajikistan
- Detailed design of water distribution networks in Jakarta,
Indonesia
- Water resource master plans for provincial towns across
Tanzania
- Lenders technical advisor to privatised extension of water
services in Manila, Philippines
