He is a chartered mechanical engineer with a BEng and MEng from Oxford University.

Since joining Mott MacDonald Aamer has worked on a variety of water infrastructure projects for UK water companies and also for international clients in India, China, Ireland, Qatar and Tajikistan. This has included two years as a senior resident engineer in Shanghai, China, leading a team of 14 supervision engineers for a suite of large clean water projects – part of the £295 million Shanghai Environment Project - and eight months in Qatar undertaking a feasibility study for the Ras Laffan Common Cooling Water System.

Aamer has just completed an assignment assisting Thames Water with their five-year long AMP4 programme of clean water infrastructure projects, where he was the lead MEICA engineer for the Thames Water Ring Main Resilience Project – a £110 million strategic expansion of the key clean water conveyance system for the city of London, including 15km of 2.5m internal diameter tunnels and three large below-ground clean water pumping stations. His role involved leading a team of multidisciplinary engineers to deliver the MEICA aspects of the design and the construction contract documents. Aamer has recently transferred to Abu Dhabi where he is Water Utilities Manager - responsible for project management and budgetary control of a range of water infrastructure projects across the UAE. He is managing a team of 15 office and site staff, delivering projects with annual fees of £1 million. He also has the role of water sector business development manager across the Middle East.
