Christopher Thomas: hydrogeologist

hydrologyProviding advice for the handover of the groundwater monitoring works for the A3 Hindhead Scheme, Surrey, EnglandChristopher Thomas joined Mott MacDonald in 2005 after graduating with a BSc and an MSc in Agrosciences with water management from the Université d’Avignon et des Pays du Vaucluse (France). He is a hydrogeologist working within the Environment Division. He has experience of working on UK groundwater and surface water projects, including water resources, hydro-ecological assessments and groundwater pollution. His most recent projects included the assessments of the impacts of abstraction for public water supply on environmentally designated features in the North West Highlands of Scotland under the Birds and Habitats Directive programme. He also had inputs in water quality reports dealing with mitigation of diffuse pollution in Egypt and Sri Lanka.

Christopher has experience of working in the French water management system including hydrogeological studies, domestic wastewater treatment plants design, geological mapping, drinking water treatment and irrigation system assessment and design, geophysics, geochemistry and French water and environmental legislation. His multidisciplinary academic background provides him with knowledge of waste remediation, ecology, limnology, hydrobiology and Geographical Information Systems. As a student he undertook industrial placements in France, Reunion and Mauritius.
