John Prytherch: hydraulic design

aqueduct inspectionJohn inspects the outlet of the aqueduct at Maidens Brook on the New River for Thames WaterJohn Prytherch joined us after completing a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and Management from Birmingham University in 1999. He is a Chartered Engineer specialising in irrigation, drainage and hydraulic engineering. He has wide ranging experience including project management, feasibility studies, hydraulic modelling, design, contract management and construction supervision.

Early in his career he worked on a number of river engineering and flood defence projects both directly for Mott MacDonald and while on secondment to the Environment Agency. John also supervised the construction of the Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake, the training centre for the British Olympic Rowing Team.

More recently he has led design teams for irrigation and drainage projects in India and Uzbekistan and worked as a dam engineer on projects in Lesotho, Ghana and the UK.

John is currently working in Mali as the design team leader for the Millennium Challenge Corporation funded Alatona Irrigation Project. He is responsible for the design of a 22,000 hectare extension to the existing Office du Niger irrigation system and leads a team of engineers from the UK, India and Mali.
