Parsons is a chartered engineer with a BSc in Civil Engineering
from Imperial College and a MSc in Hydrogeology from the University
of Birmingham. He specialises in water resources, groundwater and
integrated river basin management. Steve has spent all of his
working life working for Mott MacDonald other than four years when
he was a lecturer in groundwater engineering in the Department of
Civil Engineering at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He has
worked for Mott MacDonald for more than 25 years in total, and has
been involved in many successful projects, in South Asia, Eastern
Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and China. At present
he is also an external lecturer on the Master’s Degree course in
Water and Environmental Engineering at the University of
Surrey.
Steve is currently the team leader on the Pripyat Transboundary
River Basin Management Project in Belarus and Ukraine. This project
provides support in developing international co-operation, the
development of a River Basin Management Plan using the EU Water
Framework Directive approach, and developing stakeholder
involvement in planning. The project also provides support for
improvements to the chemical, ecological and morphological
monitoring systems in the basin.
