transboundary RBMSteve Parsons (front right) with participants at a River Basin Assessment workshop in Lutsk, Ukraine Steve Parsons is a chartered engineer with a BSc in Civil Engineering from Imperial College and a MSc in Hydrogeology from the University of Birmingham. He specialises in water resources, groundwater and integrated river basin management. Steve has spent all of his working life working for Mott MacDonald other than four years when he was a lecturer in groundwater engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He has worked for Mott MacDonald for more than 25 years in total, and has been involved in many successful projects, in South Asia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and China. At present he is also an external lecturer on the Master’s Degree course in Water and Environmental Engineering at the University of Surrey.

Steve is currently the team leader on the Pripyat Transboundary River Basin Management Project in Belarus and Ukraine. This project provides support in developing international co-operation, the development of a River Basin Management Plan using the EU Water Framework Directive approach, and developing stakeholder involvement in planning. The project also provides support for improvements to the chemical, ecological and morphological monitoring systems in the basin.
