Sun Yan Evans: river and catchment modelling

Sun Yan EvansSun Yan EvansSun Yan Evans is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager. She holds a BSc in Civil Engineering/Hydraulics and River Dynamics and an MSc in Hydraulics and Sediment Modelling from Wuhan University, China. She joined Mott MacDonald in 1998 with twenty years' experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling and floodplain mapping.

Sun Yan has specialist knowledge of civil engineering hydraulics, including hydraulic structures, river engineering, flood control and alleviation works, hydrology, hydraulic modelling, water quality modelling and sediment transport. She has been personally involved in over 40 modelling studies in the UK and overseas. Her extensive experience in all aspects of water engineering includes flood warning and forecasting, flood risk mapping, flood risk assessment and catchment planning, with associated data management and GIS skills.

She is fluent in both English and Mandarin and has written twenty technical papers on water quality and water management.
