Tim HillTimothy Hill is a Chartered
Engineer with a BEng in Civil Engineering from the University of
Bristol. He joined Mott MacDonald in 1990 after his graduation. Tim
has 17 years’ experience in the dams, hydraulic structures and
water management sector. He is a member of the All Reservoirs Panel
of Engineers (Reservoirs Act 1975). His extensive experience
includes seismic design analysis and review, river sedimentation
studies, geotechnical/materials investigations and testing for
concrete, masonry, rockfill and earthfill dams and embankments. He
has particular expertise in finite element and detailed hydraulic
computer analyses including concrete dam analysis, dam breach and
risk assessment techniques, and complex spillway flow
modelling.
His work for Mott MacDonald has involved working on projects in
Oman, Abu Dhabi, Pakistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iceland, Ireland,
Mozambique, and Nigeria, and in addition he has designed and
provided head office support for projects in Australia, Jordan,
Uganda, Cyprus, Algeria, Lesotho, Sri Lanka, India, Laos and
Libya.
He has worked on the following dams: Nam Theun Dam – Laos, Luhri
Dam and Hydropower Scheme – India, Iranamadu Dam – Sri Lanka,
Karahnjukar Dam and Hydropower Project – Iceland, Koga Dam –
Ethiopia, Tannur Dam – Jordan, Cluanie Dam – Scotland, Akaki
Malounda and Tamasos Dams – Cyprus, Ryburn Dam – UK, Presa de
Guanajuma Embankment Dam – Dominican Republic, Chotiari Dam –
Pakistan, Wadi Hawasinah Dam – Oman, ’Muela Dam – Lesotho, Sidi Ben
Taiba Dam – Algeria, Wadi Khurwa Dams – Libya and Wadi Sahalnawt
Dam – Oman.
He was also the Project Engineer responsible for delivering an
outline design and cost estimate for a new 800m long barrage with
32MW hydropower plant across the River Nile at Assiut in Egypt.
Tim’s work has also included reservoirs, flood defences and river
hydraulic schemes in the UK and Ireland.
